New Student Visits

We are delighted to welcome a new student to Weka class!

He is really clever and it's going to be great having him in our room. Today he read a story about a raccoon! It was an awesome book.

Have fun in Weka!

New gear

Lucky Sarah Bear has received a gift!

A kind grandma knitted a beautiful skirt, top and jacket for her.

Would you believe - it fits her perfectly?

Check out the proof - she looks absolutely beautiful!

Spoilt Sarah Bear!

Cross Country

Today was the famous Small Schools Cross Country competition.

It was held at Greenpark School and was a fabulous afternoon.

Naturally, Weka learners gave their best effort in their races, jumping hay bales with ease. They were very proud of themselves and everyone was very proud of THEM!

Look at the great photos of the day...

Amazing Rugby Dude

Wow - Weka learners are not only stunning inside the classroom, but they also excel on the sporting field.

They are all pretty amazing, I must admit. This awesome sportsman got player of the day and has been scoring tries left right and centre this season.

AWESOME effort!

(...and he lost a tooth today, too! Very cool!)

NEWS

We have 'news' two times each week. Children are able to bring something from home to share or tell about something exciting.

As a class, we are learning to be great listeners as others share their news. We show that we are great listeners by...
  • sitting still
  • being quiet
  • looking at the speaker
  • waiting for our turn to speak
  • asking a question at the end
These learners shared news recently...

"I had hotcakes for breakfast."

"This is my judo outfit."

"This is my baby doll."

"This is my Littlest Pet Shop dog."

"Here is a special game from China called Mahjong.
It is a bit like a card game where you have to collect sets."

GREAT NEWS TIME, WEKA!

Well done, everyone!

This week, EVERYONE remembered to bring their spelling sound work books to share.

They were READY to learn!

We were so proud, so we took this photo!

Keep up this awesome effort, Weka.

Patterning

After we went on a pattern search in our school playground, we started making patterns in class.
In one activity, we made one copy of a pattern (e.g: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow) on a card.
Then we used our card to make our pattern repeat (happen again).

Here is a repeating colour pattern:

o o o o o o

The pattern goes... red, blue, green. Then it happens again (repeats).

Check out our patterning photos....

Patterning 2a

These learners have created patterns that repeat. Can you see the pattern and then see it again? That's what repeating is!

Patterning 2b

Some of these patterns repeat using colours (e.g: blue, yellow, green) and some repeat using size (small, big, small, big).
Can you spot the patterns these awesome learners have created?

Patterning 3

Look at these wonderful patterns that we created using paint as part of our Algebra maths unit.

SWIMMING AT KINGS SWIM SCHOOL

Our whole school went to Kings Swim School on the bus every day for two weeks.

We worked really hard to improve our swimming skills.

It was FUN!

Check out our pictures...

Farewell

We had to say goodbye to Daniel who has gone to another school. We had a special treat to farewell him.

It was.... ICE CREAM!

We even took some to our principal!

Yum, yum.

We will miss you, Daniel!
